I’m Ian Campbell, a 30-year-old indie dev from Toronto, Ontario.
I’ve been ga-ga for videogames my whole life. My preference is fast, skill-based action games, but I can get behind any game with interesting mechanics, or genuine soul. Some of my personal favourites include: Deus Ex, Ikaruga, Bayonetta, Viewtiful Joe, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Mega Man.
I always wanted to make games of my own but I was never sure how, until I learned about XNA in 2008, which allowed random nobodies like me to make XBOX 360 games! I bought a console and never looked back.
Since then I’ve taught myself how to code, draw and compose, and have released around 25 small indie games both solo and collaboratively, with a couple larger-scale projects in there besides.
I enjoy teaming up with other devs immensely, but the games I’m most proud of so far are the ones where I’ve been responsible for everything (which are mainly the ones you’ll find on this site.) I view these kinds of projects as art, and a form of self-expression — an attempt to manifest my passion for video games and share it with others.
My most well-received game by far is the action-platformer Bleed, which I’m currently working on a follow-up to. I aim for it to blow your mind!
