The MEGABOOTH!!

YES!! Another thing I’m very pleased to announce is that Bleed 2 is in the Indie MEGABOOTH for Pax West!! If you’re gonna be there, come say hi and try out the game! Here’s a handy map of the MEGABOOTH space, and where you’ll be able to find Bleed 2.

For anyone who doesn’t know, the MEGABOOTH is an awesome organization that helps indies like me show our games at huge events like PAX, GDC, E3, etc etc etc. You can see the whole PAX West lineup on their website here — it’s really, really exciting to be showing alongside so many other amazing games. I’m stoked!

This also means I’ve been running around like a madman for the last month or so trying to prepare. There’s so much to be considered and co-ordinated and designed and ordered — I’ve barely touched the game itself in the last 4 weeks. Here’s what I’ve actually been up to!

First was deciding the booth layout, and all the items/furniture/etc I’d need within it. I get a 10×10 space, which is awesome, but I’m flying across the continent to show the game so bringing things like tables and chairs and monitors isn’t really feasible. Luckily the MEGABOOTH helps coordinate rentals of these things for the show. Anyways I spent a million hours trying to decide how many stations I could comfortably have for people to play, how to draw attention, how much electricity I’d be using, etc etc etc.

I 3D modeled it. I Photoshop’ed it. I tried it in real life. I went a little nuts. In the end I decided on something like this:

If that picture doesn’t mean anything to you: I’ll have a giant TV on a 7-foot stand on the left side, and a table with two other stations on the right. The two seated table areas will come with headphones and be for solo play, while the TV will be for playing co-op, and will be raised up high to try and capture peoples’ attention. The red arrows are where people will be walking and where they’ll be coming from. It’s not like I’ve done this before so it might need adjusting, but at least I’m going in with a plan!

I’m also going in with swag! Postcards and Steam keys (for the original Bleed), baby! 1,000 of each, I think that’ll be plenty.

I also got this sick standing banner made up! It’s pretty huge — I stuck the banana in there for scale.

ALSO, I got some shirts made so people know I’m the actual dev and not some rando milling about the booth! I think it brings out my… eyes…

Sooooo yeah!! This post probably makes it seem like a nice neat little package, but never having done this before, it was a TON of puzzling things out and trying to decide what was best, designing/ordering/printing everything, booking flights and hotels, contacting press, announcing the game, blah blah BLAH!! It’s been a packed four weeks! Mega shout-outs to Mobeen Fikree of Vertex Pop, Christine Love of Love Conquers All games and all the folks at Gamma Space who were super kind in answering all my ridiculous questions about exhibiting and telling me it was going to be alright. Also big props to my partner, who helped me hand-place 1,000 labels with Steam keys on business cards. It’s great to have so much wonderful support.

Now what’s left is to make a new demo for the game so I can really put my best foot forward at the show! Waaaaaaaah!!!
